3. "Era of Good Feelings" DBQ - analyze with a partner



·       Analyze the question:

o   What are you being ASKED TO DO? What is the question ASKING?

o   Categories for Docs – already established for you?

·       For each document

o   Document information: What is the document LITERALLY talking about?

o   Document Inferences: What issues does the document HINT at, or allude to? Implying sectionalism or nationalism?

o   Place document in category: Is it an example of growing SECTIONALISM or NATIONALISM?

·       DECIDE:

o   Is the “Era of Good Feelings” an accurate label?

o   Write thesis statement: (perfect situation for an “Although” thesis)

§  Be sure to include organizational categories

·       3 major events or issues that support sectionalism or nationalism

·       Each category should have at least 1-2 documents that can be used as support.

o   Although “this happened,” (counter argument) the label “Era of Good Feelings” is an “(accurate or inaccurate)” label for the period of history after the War of 1812, as it was primarily a time of significant “(sectionalism or nationalism.)” This emergence of “(sectionalism/nationalism)“ can be best seen though the “(1._________________ , 2. _________________ , 3. __________________).
